PRESENTATION

Now more than ever, postgraduate academic programs should be the basis from which professionals acquire knowledge and tools that allow them to propose solutions to the problems that we are facing. Without a doubt, their relevance and social impact have taken an important role on the definition of professional training.

The COMEPO (Consejo Mexicano de Estudios de Posgrado), with the support of its partnered institutions, diverse private organizations and Federal, State and Local government authorities, has been working since its inception to promote the development and consolidation of the national postgraduate programs. As a result, COMEPO has registered the evolution of Mexico’s postgraduate studies, and has been witness to valuable experiences, contributions and impact of these academic programs not only in the academic arena, but also to society and our vision of a better future.

The 3rd National Postgraduate Forum "New Foundations for Learning and Research in Postgraduate Studies", promoted by CONACYT (Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología) emphasized one of the principles that COMEPO proposed since its foundation 20 years ago: the development of a National Postgraduate System, a subject that has been addressed with different scopes in several of the National Congresses summoned by COMEPO.

COMEPO also covered the topic of social impact caused by postgraduate students in the 32nd National Congress celebrated at the ITESO in 2019, which resonates with the new paradigm that CONACYT is establishing for the acknowledgement of quality for postgraduate academic programs: the "Social Impact of Postgraduate Studies".

Taking this into account, COMEPO’s mission and vision stand out as completely relevant and current for our times; all members of COMEPO have contributed to its evolution and have faced challenges such as the COVID 19 pandemic.
